Description

Just Your Love What does it take to get close to You? Must I run from the life I lead? I lead? Must I burn my books? My books? Must I separate the known from the Known? What does it take? How do I get Your attention? When conversation is one way – my way, How do I know You're listening? How do I shut me off and turn You on? What is the switch? Fasting? Sackcloth and ashes? How about whipping? Cutting? Beating? Does that make You listen? How about giving away all I have? All I own? Join a monastery and live in utter poverty? Do away with all pleasure? All of my "needs"? Will that make You listen? What can I do? What is the formula? What does it take to turn Your ear? What does it take to get close to You? What does it take? Nothing. It's not by might of my works. There is no power in my activities. It is by Your Spirit; Yours alone. You have bridged the gap. You have made the way. You did what it took: Shed blood; Torn flesh. The crushing weight of sin on Your shoulders. Through Your separation You have brought us together. No formulas. No manipulation. Just Your love. J.P. Wiegand ©Emittravel 1997 ----- I'm sitting at the dining room table doing a "small" project. I'm adding my handwritten notes to my OneNote journal (what I'm currently writing in now). I've finally caught myself up to February 23, 1997 where I find something interesting: I wrote a poem, I believe under the influence of the Holy Spirit, while at a church service at Hillsong Family Worship Center. I thought I had typed all of my handwritten poems and stored them in an electronic folder. That is, until today. "Just Your Love" is one that I had apparently never typed out. I'm glad I'm doing this "small" project. -j.p.
