Description

The sun coming out on a typical English railway scene of the Great Western Railway Era after a heavy storm. (Circa 1930's). "Faster than fairies, faster than witches, Bridges and houses, hedges and ditches. And charging along like troops in a battle, All through the meadows, the horses and cattle. All of the sights of the hill and the plain, Fly as thick as driving rain. And ever again, in the wink of an eye, Painted stations whistle by... And here is a mill and there is a river, Each a glimpse and gone for ever." by Robert Louis Stevenson Models from Cornucopia. I fashioned the head code lamps from photographs and set them according to the GWR appendix to the rule book 1936. These lamps mean: 'Freight, Mineral or Ballast train or train of empties carrying through load to destination'. dmrc_enabled_wbtn.gif

Full-size view is a must! Lighting is fantastic in this scene,Peter. Is that Vicky 3 in the engine car? I like how you have placed dirt over the tracks, it adds to the realism.

Beautifully rendered scene to go along with the RLS poem. Looks like a hot Summer day after a real downpour. The extra details you have added are what make this shine....double tracks, the POV and ATMOS, and the water puddle between the tracks really catches my eye. Stunning work, as always.

That is so wonderful--seeing the trains up close was one of the great pleasures I had visiting the UK. Your attention to detail here is splendid too--not just the proper signal lanterns, but also the water on the tracks and the weeks growing up on the siding. The steam is gorgeous too! I love how varied your art is--the only connecting thread is a certain look and such high quality!

This is REALLY super!! Sort of reminds me of last year when part of the Severn Valley Railway got washed away in the floods. So your teashop is in Matlock eh? Have to pop in next time we're up there...if we can park between all those bikes ;-)
