Description

The sun coming out on a typical English railway scene of the Great Western Railway Era after a heavy storm. (Circa 1930's). "Faster than fairies, faster than witches, Bridges and houses, hedges and ditches. And charging along like troops in a battle, All through the meadows, the horses and cattle. All of the sights of the hill and the plain, Fly as thick as driving rain. And ever again, in the wink of an eye, Painted stations whistle by... And here is a mill and there is a river, Each a glimpse and gone for ever." by Robert Louis Stevenson Models from Cornucopia. I fashioned the head code lamps from photographs and set them according to the GWR appendix to the rule book 1936. These lamps mean: 'Freight, Mineral or Ballast train or train of empties carrying through load to destination'. dmrc_enabled_wbtn.gif

This is so great! I can't get over your extreme, (in a good way) attention to detail! Your work displays a lot of forethought in its creation. Even the little water puddles are amazing! Wow, this is just perfection and I love Stevenson! Lea

Großartige Arbeit. Ein Freund von mir arbeitet auch mit VUE, deshalb weis ich was an Arbeit und Rechenzeit dahinter steckt. Da sind sehr viele Bilder die mir gefallen und imponieren in dieser Gallerie.

Excellent detail including the rain water between the track is a very nice touch. Saturation and hues are some of the best.

another consummate image, showing your remarkable overview and sense of immense detail...the dappling of light against the shrubs and growths along the ground, the careful detailing of the plants themselves, careful to include deep amber along with green, yellow, etc; your counterpoint of water with stone (on the tracks) in a kind of dance across the ground; the inconspicuous but beautiful butterflies in the background and of course the butterfly in foreground, which you've dappled with light very sensitively. (Even the butterflies along the still-water by the tracks...quite lovely.) Then the train itself, powerful yet plastic, very visceral yet visually smooth and touchable; the whole picture being vast but intimate and showing once again a sense of love for everything in your vision and an immaculate patience to let it all fall into place and render as if it put itself there by itself (which of course it didn't). Consummate work and beautiful to any artist who strives for such things. At least it tells them it can be done, even if they may not achieve the level of broadness and embrace that you seem to achieve image after image...

There is a railroad museum near the place where I live. The steam whistles could be sometimes heard before. Even that can't be heard now. A railroad track may disappear from the ground someday. Before they disappear completely, I think I want to see such a valiant figure once.

Beautiful image! I love the moment when a storm retreats and the sun shines forth and lights up objects against a cloudy sky. Excellent composition and light! I like how the steam blends in with the clouds. Perfect choice of poem!

A powerful engine moving away from the storm. A nice touch with the Robert Louis Stevenson poem. Sad that people must steal other peoples work. Your watermark is well placed Peter!
