Description

[best viewed full sized] This shot was taken on the second storey floor of Chirk Castle, North Wales, a few weeks ago and is accessed by a very steep and winding circular stone staircase. There was no artificial lighting on this floor and so the lighting is purely that from the window. The exterior of the castle also features in my gallery. Postwork includes alteration of curves, a slight boost of hue and saturation as well as a little dodge and burn to show more detail in the stonework. Makes one wonder, what was a room like this used for, not very big for a bedroom. The lighting though is wonderful, and you made good use of it. Excellent work. Bravo!!!!!

Great photo. I used to visit alot of castles when I was younger but I've not been to this one. The light here is superb for the environment, the orange glow on the walls with the shadows really show the stoneworks detail.

I remember this room well and the lighting was gorgeous the way it shone through that window yet completely darkened by shadows everywhere else - you have captured the real essence of the atmosphere in this shot perfectly Carl!
