Description

I saw this gator on the side of the road at Lake Martin. So I stop and took photos of it and went on to the art show where I won a 3th place ribbon. I got to show and show someone the images I took on my camera. He showed me the babies gators lol I did not see them in the wild. If I did I would have rise the camera as I took close ups of the big gator. Igot some of the babies in the zoom photos but they was cut off so I uploaded a photo that shows the area and the babies. I did not see the hole in the big mama side. I think it alive. The gator was not there in the morning as I pasted. I not going to touch it to see if it is alive that for sure. will go by the area more now to look for gators. And I was thinking of walking to that park on the other side of Lake Martin, No way now: gators are up and about.[they sleep like the bears in winter around here. I be back later to night. I got to go and see someone in hositpal. I just had to upload my first gator shot, Ain't I a little kid that have to post a picture on the ice box?

Very excellent shot! It looks even greater when uploading the big image. It is an interesting family shot! I did not saw the babies first, it is strange how they are less visible than the adult. You do not precise the focal length and the opening of your lens is simply nonsense. For me I prefer to establish it in the metadata, either in Apple Aperçu application or in Nikon softwares (Photoshop even the CS3 does not gives correct info). It is a very professional image and I like the documentary info that you give about it. I am not an expert as Mrs Lubner is to discuss about the strange hole!!! Hoping now that the person you saw in the hospital is going better.

Congratulations on your first gator shot, Jock! Cool, cool, cool! I was going to say first capture but that would have been stretching things a bit. Did you try poking it with a stick? Not exactly what I had in mind when I kept mentioning the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Think of all the shoes you could make out of this big mama!

no use in being gator food for sure.dead or alive you were brave getting close to do this, or were you in your pickup?the babies probably are old enough to fend for their selfs if their mother is dead.heck Jock, there was enough hide to make a pair of boots

I didn't spot the small Gator's at first, till I zoomed in ! If the hole in Mum was fresh, there would be lots of dried blood, so I think also, it's an old battle wound and she will be around to look after her babies ! Great and brave capture ! ~Cheers~

I sure hope you stayed IN the car Jock! If this Momma just came out of hibernation, you can bet your boots she's hungry!! She's got some good sized babies, too. I didn't know they hung around the mother that long. Fabulous shot!! You got it all in this one, Momma AND the babies!

That is some mean looking gator you have in a great capture. Don't think we have them that big in Texas. She is probably watchin' out for her babies. I can see why you took the award- for bravery if not for this wonderful pic.
