Description

Thanks to the suggestions made by geirla,I decided to revisit my previous upload and make some changes.First I rounded the edges of the jaguar decorations and eroded them more using the paintbrush in the terrain editor set to "paint effect".Then I upped the bump on the brick texture to give all the structure more impact. After that I changed the distant terrain shape and moved it closer slightly to show the customized jungle material.I added another tree in the far distance for more depth, and re-worked the other trees to create a lush, overgrown feel to the foreground. Finally I added bubbles to the water surface to provide a sense of threat from some unseen water creature, and rendered again using same setting of Premium with ambiance added, but added soft shadows for more overall atmosphere.Phew...I would have re-posted this instead of keeping previous image, but I thought it was the perfect opportunity to show the development of an image using constructive comments posted by you,the viewers and fellow artists. So,thanks to geirla for getting the ball rolling...and thanks to all of you for your viewing and comments-Neil.

Very nice. Looks creepier than the first one. Now all you need to do is punch some eye holes in the jaguars (just kidding!)

I especially like all of the detail explanation you have given us, Neil. This image is really well-crafted and has an amazingly mysterious look to it. Your aged look of the decorations, and background terrains are wonderful as is the addition of the bubbles to the water...hmmm, wonder what's lurking in there?!

The description shows your great knowledge of Photoshop and the terrain editor. I must admit that I had not even thought of the suggestions made by geirla but must agree that they have enhanced the image. I like that addition of the bubbles as well giving it that sense of threat feeling. A definate fav. Tony :-)

I really like this one because of the ancient feel you've given it. The butterfly and bubbles are just some more great details you've added.

Really good - great commentary - I'm sure we all do this ourselves between renders! But you're right, an independent view always makes a difference.
