Description

Blackstone Edge. This is where I was stood or perhaps slightly to the left of here to take the view overlooking Hollingworth Lake (3) my last upload. I like this shot because sometimes it isn't this clear although its not perfect, I would have prefered to have a person stood at the foot of the black rocks to give a sense of proportion. If you look closely there is a sheep hiding in the grass in the foreground. We are walking over here this coming Tuesday or maybe Thursday weather permitting, hope to capture somthing of interest! Off out for a Sunday Roast Dinner at my local Pub now! Enjoy your day.

It's only nature who can make statues out of rocks strewn all over, very interesting.

Great shot Alan. It looks more like it is in West Texas, but there wouldn't be any sheep. Glad you mentioned the sheep, I had to zoom in to see it better, Sig...

Also known locally as Robin Hoods Bed/Rocks, I don't really know why they have this name, but it is what I have called them all my life, for the best part of sixty years. I'm sure if you got closer you would find my initials amongst the many thousands that are there Alan. I remember going up there on numerous occasions armed with an hammer and chisel. The trig point, out of shot but over to the right of this, is around the 1300ft asl mark, and around about a mile and a half further on you come to the M62 Motorway as it passes from Lancashire to Yorkshire. Fond memories Alan, this was more or less my back yard. Excellent capture, and yes I spotted the sheep before I enlarged it. I would love to go over to the other side and visit the 'Cows Yed' again. It would take me half a day to reach it though.lol. Bravo!!!!! Got to be a fav.
