Description

I literally gasped out loud when I walked up to this atlas moth! It is native to China and southeast Asia and is the largest moth in the world. They can have a wingspan of nearly a foot across! This one was probably 8-10 inches across and is the largest insect I have ever seen in my life. Thanks for your views and comments.

A very impressive moth - the wings somehow remind of a snake's head. I also like the warm colours of this animal. I can understand that you had to take a deep breath when you saw it. Lucky you :-)
