Description
These buttes are a pretty amazing sight; they're visible for miles and miles as you drive along HWY 99 in California. I didn't know much about them, so had to do a little research* to see what they were all about. As I was driving home the other day, I had to stop and just look (yes, I DID stop!!). This was at least 25 or 30 miles away.
This is also my 300th posting, times flies when you're having fun ~~ and I'm having a blast here on RR!!

Sutter Buttes is the smallest official mountain range registered in the world. It is still considered sacred ground by the native population and sticks out of the flat bottom of the valley like a sore thumb. I have always been attracted to the buttes and one day I would like to drive over and do one of the hiking trails although I hear most of them are pretty rugged. This isn't very far from where I live. :-)

A beautiful buttery butte in the distance, Marilyn! Are you absolutely sure you stopped when you snapped this photo? It looks kinda, well you know....ahem, blurry? Anyway, congratulations on reaching the semi-lofty ladder rung of #300 on RR, young lady! Gee, has it been that long? It seems like you just got on board.
