Description

This is a stitch of seven pictures taken at Pistyll Rhaeadr Waterfall near the small town of Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant in North Wales on Sunday, whilst out shooting with Chrissy, aka BibbyBear, and some other pics of this waterfall appear in her gallery. Pistyll Rhaeadr is a 240ft drop and the tallest waterfall in Wales. I have been wanting to do a vertical panoramic for a while now and was just waiting for the right opportunity. This is my first attempt and I think I have managed to do this without visible stitch marks and have kept the "ghosting" to a minimum, however your views on this are most welcome. I also wasn't sure what size to upload this at (didn't want it to be too big or too small) and so I hope that nobody minds having to scroll to see the full pic. Thanks for looking and any comments and critique are, as always, more than welcome and valued!!

I look at this as three cascades, the top, the middle where it comes through the arch and the bottom below that, the others are to small to count. The top one very spectacular as it pours over the edge, the blue sky above it. I especially like the middle one where it comes through the arch of the rock and it is almost 3D there as well. The third one is where the rainbow effect is, although not a full rainbow it takes on hues of pink. A spectacular water fall I think Carl, and your capture is quite outstanding, I love the vertical panoramic view you have made here. This would look nice on a picture postcard advertising the falls. Superb work and presentation, and an interesting narrative as well. Bravo!!!!!

Urm - something doesnt seem right. Either there was a mass of spray or you were shooting into the light but there is a haze all over the rocks. Plus it looks like you are suffering from camera shake, especially on the bottom section of rocks. Either i have an amazing eye for seeing this or i am being over critical... nuff said about that really. As for the stitching no visible marks and a nice concept - might have been nicer to see a little bit more either side of the waterfall, or have it off centred somehow so that one fall isnt so directly above the other.

This is so good! I can't see anyplace where you 'stitched' it together. I, too find the bottom rocks a bit shaky, but maybe my eyes are still jet-lagged. Lord knows, the rest of me is! Great work!

Superb vertical pano, caught my eye straight away. I like the milky effect of the water. Nicely put together.

very nice idea and good stitching - the rocks seem a little soft/out of focus which is a shame because had they been sharp this would have been a definite favourite. nonetheless a nice work, you managed to capture its scale well.

Well, I have to give you marks out of ten for at least knowing that PS CS3 has a feature to do this type of merging for you, I'd have spent hours trying to fix the individual pictures in place manually LOL! However, doing it manually would have at least given the option to erase the areas that are "duplicated" over each other which has created the "ghosting" that others are referring to. Not out of focus or camera shake, just an unfortunate side-effect of using the merge feature which is a shame as this is an outstanding capture(s) and really does the waterfall justice. A beautiful presentation showing the intense water mist that was present (my soaking wet polarising lens proved that LOL!!) and I too think this would make a great postcard or bookmark. Well done babe. I love it xox
