Description
This lovely little plaque, which speaks for itself always delights me. It is two doors down from the Globe Theatre, on the south bank of the Thames. I think very few people see it, up high on the wall as they are so busy enjoying the view of St. Paul's cathedral directly across the river.
I always take time to stroll along Southbank, as the history there delights me. It is where the less desirable folks went, the actors, prostitutes, and drunkards, whose activities were not allowed inside the city proper. There was a curfew in the city at night, and I have learned that the priests themselves often dallied too long in houses of ill-repute! This small plaque speaks volumes, doesn't it?
Thanks for visiting.

A most interesting story accompanies the magnificent chiseled Wren plaque shown above, Chris, especially the part about the wayward priests! What grist for Oscar Wilde! Cool POV in this capture.
