Ultrafractal 4.03 -- Photoshop 7
Hi y'all! As I was trying to come up with submissions to the fractal calendar thingie, I decided to try to add some colors to my old "Kastenie" spiral in my gallery here - http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1404439&member
and came up with this coloration. On a whim, I did some texture work in PS and came up with this. I'm thinking it looks pretty darn hand-painted but figured maybe I'd better run it past others before "love at first sight" got the better of me and I spent $$ getting it printed. What do y'all think? Worth the ink? I color balanced a bit more red into the image to tone down the yellow and give a more orange hue - ok? Or maybe brighter yellow along the outside was better? Suppose it's hard to tell without the other one to look at. The difference is minor, though this tweak does make the image a bit less bright. Needless to say, this one probably isn't so good for the calendar with all this texturing, though.
Thanks for stopping by!
Rick

I love these colors and the textures are incredible. Print it! But you are probably right about the calendar and textures. They don't seem to like them much. :)

I have to agree, it does look pretty darned hand painted. The texture work is wonderful and puts me in mind of handmade papers. I love paper :) Where it might not make the fractal calendar, it could certainly hang on a wall somewhere in a place of honor. I love it! Love, Mad

wonderful looking

Well, well! It certainly looks like a painting. The textures make it look painted. As for the colors, I like the bits of blue and green here and there. I really enjoy looking at this artwork.

s show stopper. Colors are just perfect, happy enough but not "shouting". a big YES for printing it..

Very colorful, nice texture.

Nice work. The amount and depth of texture is perfect, and compliments the lines and shapes nicely. Suggestion? From my view the colors are too bright, and maybe a smidge too saturated. The texture gives the piece a cave painting look, which I happen to love, and the circus colors are a little inconsistant with that. In fact, a fractal painted by a cave man has a cool groove to it.

Superb, as always, Rykk! Tumbuk2 is right, the texture is a perfect compliment to the design. And it DOES look hand-painted!

Hey, Rick, long time....Ya done good, I like it as it is, and for a wall piece, the textures are wonderfully like a painting. The calendar might need them toned down a bit. Although it's pretty much perfect as is all your work! Go for it!

Hi Rick, I'm going to attempt being critical so will send you a private message. Cliff.

Definitely looks hand-painted; love the play of texture and color. Beautiful bold work, Rick..and really excellent; however, I'd be more inclined to recommend the print if it weren't a spiral.

WONDERFUL WORK!!!!!!!!!

Wonderful work. Could also be looking through special glass (not sure what that's called in English). You're right: Avalanche normally sticks to the non-textured images, although for 2009 they've picked at least one with some texturing (mine ^_^). Really like the warm colours in this and the fact that the spiral seems to fade into nothing at the sides.

Super!
