Description

This is another repost of a Blender piece I did a little over a year ago. You can see the original here if you've a mind to. I did all the modeling from scratch in Blender, except for the statue, which is Einzie1's work. (Thanks, Darlin'!) It's the same image as before, just postworked in Photoshop. This started out to be an exercise in making a lamp. The hard part isn't making the lamp look lke a lamp - that's just modeling. The hard part is making the light come out the top and the bottom so it looks real. I was reasonably happy with the result, and then of course I couldn't leave it alone ... and it turned into a whole room! I never really plan these things - they just sort of happen. (Check out the reflection of the lamp and the table in the window!) The garden you see through the window is a photograph of my garden, taken in late April or early May a couple years ago. The texture on the pillows on the sofa and chair are photographs of needlepoint projects I've done myself. There's a lot of personal detail in this, which kept me amused for quite a while! :) Fun stuff! :)

I can see you have spent a lot of time (fun time I hope) with this Tara, i checked out the original and yes i think this is more appealing, I like the added contrast to the whole image like the HDR thingy. Well done, you are good at this!

I really like being able to compare the old and new. Switching back and forth it looks like the new one has been sharpened; it just seems to be more real. I can see that there is a lot of you in here, Tara; this is excellent work.

WOOOW ! I see the different. Beautiful both of them, but the new one has more volumen if I may say so. Exxxxxxcellent work Tara. I am not familiar with the program Blender3D.... now you make me very curious. Can you actually make your own models in it, like lamps and furniture and so???

I admire your patience!! It's superb and very interesting, and great to hear how you did it. The only trouble with this sort of art for me is that one is tied to the computer...with get yer hands dirty art I can be outside or in the sun in the studio. Top marks to you, Tara!

I can't comment sensibly on the technique [just my ignorance of 3D art] but I can say I'm impressed by the final result. Excellent. Mike

Splendid POV, lighting and postwork remodeling of this demure and elegant living room, my friend! It would easily make the cover of House and Garden magazine. BTW, you could do all the Photoshop, Blender and Dogwaffle at your command, but never get my living room to look this beautiful.
