Description

[best viewed full sized] This shot was taken just over a week ago whilst heading towards Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, in North Wales, to visit and take pics of the Pistyll Rhaeadr Waterfall that I have previously uploaded. It was quite by chance that we were on this high road (just following the satnav) and got to see this view before dropping into the valley below. After we got back Chrissy and I tried to locate this area on a map but it is difficult because its just so isolated out there. I believe the mountains and hills are part of the Berwyn Mountain range, but I could be wrong! lol! This picture is a blend of four differently exposed images from the same RAW file capture to be able to get the cloud definition combined with the foreground details and colours like it would look to the eye if you were to be there and see it in person. I have also slightly altered the levels and saturation as well as a little dodge and burn and a few other minor adjustments. Thanks for looking and any comments and critique are, as always, more than welcome and valued!!

Dear Gwalia, my most beloved Wales. I have just come back from Welsh classes this evening and am delighted to discover this stunning, truly exceptional shot which exemplifies the glory of this ancient, magical nation. The little glimpse of snow in the mountainous background seems like a herald of winter. Marvellous. I score this as '5'. Diolch yn fawr.
