Description

Hi-- Thanks for stopping in.. working on Hair on this image - this is Koz's Long Hair Evolution with Pendragon's hair shader. Something I'm trying to work out for a tutorial so your feedback regarding the hair is most appreciated. DAZ Studio render - probably a bit too much postwork in Photoshop CS3 This is Victoria 3 with DM's Alina texture and a free face morph by A_ that I found somewhere. Hair, as noted, is long hair evo by Kozaburo-san. I processed the texture to a grayscale using a procedure outlined by bagginsbill in the poser forum and did the color, ansiotropic highlight, sss and tranlucency with Pendragon's hair shader. I also did a subdivision on both V3 and the hair prop. The hair was rendered at subD level 2 and V3 was rendered at subD level 1. SubD'ing hair really smooths it out. Just be careful to save your work as it's easy to crash the render engine with too many polys using subD. D|S did me the courtesy of crashing at least a dozen times while I was working on this. (Note to D|S devs - STABILITY - not BLOAT!!!) Lighting is Dreamlight's basic studio lightset - converted to uberspots with lightened shadows. Postwork included adding some film grain a circular gradient to 'vignette' the piece, levels adjustments and some softening of the highlights. As always your constructive critque is most welcome and comments are appreciated.

Nice piece of work. I was quite surprised to learn that this is V3. Usually, you only such good skin texture with V4. Don't know why, really, maybe I have been missing something.

To me she bears an uncanny resembalance to Cameron Diaz but maybe that's just me. The hair looks great, very real. The rest of the picture also looks very lifelike.

Mission accomplished! That's probably the most realistic hair I've seen from a D|S render, or from any other app for that matter ;) Good to see you and your "Hyper-Real" style back at it in Studio Michael!

Beautifully done - I've just started playing with DS but the constant crashing is driving me back to Poser so I do admire your perseverance and ability to produce such a fantasic image

Absolutely gorgeous hair, very realistic indeed, wonderful highlights and great depth of colour. She really reminds me of a dark haired Cameron Diaz. Superb lighting and skin with excellent realism!!!

Stunning level of realism in both the hair and the skin. I thought Kozaburos hair looked good before but you have taken it to a whole new level! Bravo!

The hair texture and reflections are great and looks very realistic...There is one thing about obj hair that never satisfies me...it doesn`t fall or flows naturally..In this image she leans over to a side, but her hair stays..but that is something for perfectionists, nevermind. The render and character are superb as usual in your works !

It looks to me that I shall be a very happy camper when you get your hair tutorial done. The sheen on the hair is very realistic looking. I haven't seen hair, outside of Wild Hair, that looks nearly so good. Lerak is right, the hair doesn't fall right, but that is a limitation of the model and of no fault of yours. One thing that looks strange to me is the shadowing, especially around her face. It almost has a solarized look about it. I'm guessing that you did a layer with high contrast and didn't get the opacity down quite enough. As I would expect from you, the eyes are fantastic! And that is one of the most convincing and lovely smiles I've ever seen on V3.

Great work as usual, skin and hair-settings are fanatstic (but since I'am rather on the "non-realistic" side of the scale ... ^-_). Anyway, a fantastic portrait!
