Renderosity has opened a whole new world to me, its a fantastic place and have had some brilliant support from many new friends.  I retired from work very early through ill health so I took to photography from the very basics.
Since joining I have grown in confidence with my photography and I now think because of RR that I take it a little more seriously. I started off here using a Fuji Finepix 6500fd, it took some great pictures but I'm hooked now so I have now(April 2008) bought a DSLR SAMSUNG DX10 and having fun learning the settings etc. ( these things take me a while lol)ÂÂ
I am so fortunate to be with a wonderful person in my life, Sylvia. She is not just my partner but of course she's also my best friend. Previously I have been married but seperated a few years ago and have two fantastic children. I NOW have two fantastic grandchildren !!!
My interests are photography, i have had a dabble at Acrylic painting, and I enjoy long walks out in the countryside.      I also have an interest in anything historical.  I want to have a sample of just about everything there is in photography, who knows what the future holds!
Thanks for calling by.    Alan

Wow, fantastic photo! With amazing depth and wide open space with the windmill thingies. Gives the farmland such a techie feel to it. I love it.

There are several of those here in California and I still don't know how much energy they actually provide, or how much damage they do to the environment. That's probably because "they" don't want us to know ~~but it's a great shot, the contrast between the bucolic pastures and cows and the high tech windmills!!!

Fantastic capture Alan! and Marilyn is so right about that :o) here is a photo I took last year. we have plenty of these in the Livermore/Stockton area. this is a freeway photo on my way home from my brothers in Stockton.
Have a great one mate!

What a beautiful green landscape Alan. It looks picture perfect. As far as the windmills are concerned I like them better than smoke stacks, they are good for the environment. Personally I like them too, as long as you don't have hundreds of them as in some places in California. In Germany, the farmer on whos property the windmill stands collects a share of the revenues generated by the mill ,Sig...

We have the same in my town and I find them beautiful too. I prefer that than atomic reactor. As for the wild life, we have many species of birds here and they don't seem to be disturbed by windmills... A great shot ! Nice landscape !

We have several huge windfarms in California from the southern border to the northern border, east to west... they do present some hazard to wildlife. Birds seem to have a difficult time avoiding them at times. But the power they supply is a great suppliment. One day I hope they will find a way to make those wind machines look nicer but with the distruction we are doing to the non-renewable resources, we need to turn to the renewable ones and make some adjustments in our thinking.

I accept the need for them, and I would have one in my back yard tomorrow, but I don't like them on the skyline. I would much more like to see trees, than these, but Like I said if they offered me one for in back, front or on the roof, I would snatch their arm off. I am lead to understand that this one when finished will be the largest inland wind farm in the UK. Excellent capture Alan, where you on Owd Bette's when you took this? or maybe lower down near Red Lumb? Bravo!!!!! Just having my breakfast and will be leaving here about 8:45.

Has anyone noticed the farmer stacking some Hay into a cattle feeder from his tractor? Jeff it was taken on full zoom from Birtle walking back to the main road over at Jericho near the Hospital! Not as far over as Red Lumb.

The big picture is very impressive, to see the stock graising and the farmer busy looks great, times are achanging, perhaps is the windmills were painted green, it may help. Great pictorial.

A superb pic, Alan!!! even better on zoom! I think they are rather elegant structures, but very noisy close up so I wouldn't like to live too close.
