A recurring character from the Twilight Blades, a D&D Forgotten Realms campaign set in Aglarond drawn from the "Unapproachable East" by Richard Baker, Matt Forbeck & Sean K Reynolds. ““What weighs so heavily on your heart, my lady?” Dervila asked, as Blindelsyn withdrew from their embrace. “The people are turning against each other,” the Princess replied. “Other Masters challenge you to turn the order against to coast Landers, and even betray their own… now I fear the Sons of Hoar have agents here in Relkath’s Foot!” Dervila felt ashamed that one of her order had aided Thayan slavers, but her shame was overwhelmed by a wave of anger at the thought that her home had been infiltrated by the anti-elven racists of the Sons of Hoar. “What makes you believe the Sons of Hoar are here!” she turned to Blindelsyn, the softness in her face and voice, now gone. “It is just a fear I have,” Blindelsyn replied softly, placing her hand on the warrior shoulder to calm her. “Have you not seen people acting differently of late,” she continued, “in the square, and the taverns, they gather in separate groups… humans apart from elves and half-elves?” “Yes,” Dervila replied, surprised that she had not seen the signs herself. “What must we do?” she looked to Blindelsyn for answers, as all the people of woodlands had. “There is nothing we can do,” the Princess replied. “Not now. If we act against peaceful gatherings in public places, we will only help their cause by appearing oppressive.” “But the people would not believe that of you!” Dervila countered. “They will,” Blindelsyn said sadly, “if that is what they see. We must be wise and patient… and prepare for when the enemies of Aglarond strike!”” Born in Relkath’s Foot, and schooled by its legendary “foresters”, Dervila has been leader of the masters of the Yuirwood for many years. Unwaveringly loyal to Princess Blindelyn and through her to the Simbul, she was once a simple ranger of Rilifane Rallathil, but learned to turn the cunning and instinct that made her a deadly foe in the forest to the wildness of politics... though she often longs for those simpler days. Of late, Dervila has faced challenges to her position from those who would see the humans driven from Aglarond and the forest kingdom restored. Dervila is well aware of the growing rift between the coastal cities and woodlands of Aglarond, and knows the conflict is not likely to be settled without bloodshed. However, despite preparing the masters of the Yuirwood to lead the defense of the ancient forest, she will not allow them to become a weapon against the Simbul. Dervila has little tolerance for adventures, seeing most as mercenaries seeking nothing but fortune and glory, but she has come to accept the Twilight Blades as local heroes, and allies in the defense of the Yuirwood.
