Description
Hi everyone... I am finally back online again with a new computer.
While the new pc was on order, I had the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream... to visit the ancient and Arthurian sites of southern England!
So to begin a new series, this is the legendary site of King Arthur's birth... Tintagel Castle on the coast of Cornwall. The day was beautiful, one of the few without rain, and I was wishing for Merlin's magic mist so as to avoid the climb up and down (twice!) some very taxing steps to the "island". The ruins shown were built around the 12th century, but archaeological excavations have found pottery dating back to the 5th or 6th century, when the legendary King Arthur was thought to have ruled Britain.
My new monitor has a larger screen resolution, so the images had to get larger too. Thanks very kindly for stopping by. I'll try to catch up in the gallery in the next few days.

Welcome back Maria, I missed you. My son and my grand-daughter are living next door to Cornwall in Devon, and in fact my son is moving this very day! I used to holiday in Cornwall as a child it is a beautiful place steeped in history, and I remember the Tintagel castle ruin very well. It would take me - 7 hours car drive from my village to get there. This is a fabulous shot of the ruin, and the sky is really fantastic!!! hugs Jane xx

WOW ! That's pure history ! I've always liked king Arthur's legends but I thought at it as a simple legend. Now, you show me a proof that it is real ! Nice shot and very colorful !

I'm intrigued at the holes in the walls. Very cool composition. Have you read the Warlord Chronicles (Trilogy) by Bernard Cornwell? a "historical" take on the Arthurian Legends, and a very good read.

OMG, our Maria has returned after a long hiatus! You were missed no end, young lady! Happy to have you back, and congratulations on your new computer. Spendid POV, DOF, colors and contrasts in this picturesque capture of the ancient ruins of the castle, with the spirit of Merlin definitely somewhere about. The least he could of done was help you up and down those steps.
