Description

Well here is the big house I told you about yesterday, this is the Biltmore Estate, and no Mike (Mad-Mike) it is not located in California and I wasn't out in California this weekend or I would have stopped by, and no PJ (Mrs. Lubner) Elvis never lived here LOL. But I have visited the Presley mansion (Graceland) before I can dig out some old photos if you want. This is located in Ashville North Carolina, and was built by George Washington Vanderbilt the 2nd, in 1888. It is a beautiful area to visit, with lots of beautiful scenery, and a whole lot of walking involved. There is a beautiful garden including some 250 different varieties of roses, horse back riding, canoes rides, carriage rides, bike trails, and a winery, those are just some of the activities you can do there. Being an avid reader my favorite part was the two story library. The only thing I didn't care for was there is no photography permitted inside the house itself. And it poured down rain just about all day, except for when we had lunch at the Biltmore Inn, and there was a wedding taking place on the grounds beneath where we had lunch so the sun came out just in time. Oh and there was an Elvis umbrella involved LOL, which got put to good use mostly protecting my camera, So Elvis was there in spirit! And yes I own an Elvis umbrella LOL

Hope you enjoy I will try to post a few different ones. Also I have posted two webs sites below if you would be interested in reading more about the Biltmore's.

I feel at home in thse places now. It's only a temporary effect immediately but stems from my finding Stonor House in Oxford.

Very nice! I like the idea of 43 bedrooms, would never have to tidy a room ever again, just move to a new one once I couldn't see the floor any more in the current one :)

Why didn't you knock on the door, we could have had tea and crumpets on the lawn, if I had known you were coming I would have baked a cake. Agree with David on the French theme, but the grass looks English. Lol. Excellent capture Lynell, I am sorry to hear about your broken toe, I hope it heals quickly without complication. Superb work and great narrative. Bravo!!!!!

Sorry to hear about your foot! Hope you are feeling better. Great image. As far as the Elvis umbrella....well its a southern thang! Elvis is still king who shares his throne with George (50+ hits and still going!).
