Description

Today we hiked Dog Mountain, on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge. The trail climbs 2800 ft in about 3 miles (850 m in 4.8 km). Near the top there are meadows that are bursting with flowers this time of year. Most of what you see here is Arrowleaf Balsamroot, with flowers bigger than the palm of your hand. Our destination was up by the trees in upper right. There were great views of the Gorge and the river, but I think I'm getting too old for climbs like this I'm exhausted, and headed for bed. I'll catch up on comments tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by and any comments.

This must have been absolutely spectacular to see in person because it sure is pretty in this picture. I'm looking forward to this hike with you, especially since you have already done all the climbing and I can just sit back and enjoy with no effort.

I don't know if I could make this climb any more. I could, but I would have to stop to catch my breath many times over. Still, if I had plenty of time, I'd love to do it. This has a gorgeous view to it. Great shot.

That's quite a hike! If I were you, I'd still be tired from the climbs you did last year. I like this shot - the curve of the hill and the curve of the path make for a wonderful compsition.

Well I usually try to pick those 2 mile loops. But this looks like a beautiful and refreshing hike to take. I can just smell the fresh air and sense the view.
