Description

Captured back in 11/4/07, around 8:30 AM, at the beautiful California Plaza in beautiful downtown Los Angeles. Cameras like these were present at the annual Alzheimer's Memory Walk, with its thousands of participants, because it was a big enough deal to be attended by various movie and television celebrities, so there were members of local TV stations there to cover the event. The Sony Betacam at the top lends credence to the probability that television news networks still use the old Beta technology format, because even though it didn't sell well to the public, which preferred the cheaper VHS VCR format instead, it is still a higher quality product than VHS. Thanks for looking in, and have a sublime Sunday.

i wouldnt mind having one LOL! ... we used to have a big older version like this in the 90s we recorded most of our girls growing up( was my first credit card purchace ever at 980 bucks back in 1990 hehe) it was so easy cause you could just pull the video tape out of it then stick in the vcr ... one day it just gave up on us but now a have a whole trunk full of family movies ...

I bought VHS in 1978. Color VHS. I couldn't get the NiCad power pak the news crews wore so I went for a home brew inverter with some 10 amp transistors and Darlingtons. eventually I bought a integrated inverter from Radio Shack. It gave me the ability to tie into my car battery and still use the 110 volt powersupply that was well engineered. The DC power supply had just come with connectors with boots and no cables. A year later the camcorder appeared with even a TV tuner included. (It was separable for weight reasons) Beta was for the courtroom.

Very interesting shot, Harry, we see these on tv all the time, but not up close. Great details and comparison between the two.

Yes, we have a similar camera brought in to shoot our concerts! Sometimes intimidating for anyone on the lens side!
