Description

I used my 90mm macro lens to see what what on it. I have not used it but one or two times and this day that all I had with my 2x len too to make it into a 180mm lens. I took over 500 photos that day and my battery died on me for I forgot to charge it up the night before. lol I could easy used my whole 4 gig card. I wish to see how good this len is and I need to put together some images to show you all. Come see. I show you many images in the next few days of what it can do. We around here say "come see" and people that is not from this area laff about it but when i go out of the area and hear how people talk I laff at them; so we even. Oh this was taken at that history place here in town[LafayetteA] to show the old ways and how it is. I hear of duck hunters of old makeing wooden ducks to draw in the live ducks . it became a art in it sufe. this one is simple. I saw some the that look real. it blow my mind. I was young at the time and I was not into photos. thanks for looking and comments. lol

Terrific lighting effects in this telescopic lens capture of the decoy and ancillary paraphernalia.

Well, Jock...I can't tell you how many times I've been laughed at for saying "fixin' to..." Fixin' to rain. Fixin' to cook. Fixin' to slap you silly...etc. People seem to think that is the funniest thing. I do like you...I find some places have silly expressions that are way worse than "fixin' to." I knew several old men back in the Big Thicket who did wood carving. Ducks mainly. Seems a popular subject. My dentist's partner who is Chinese, has won many awards for his wood carving (but stop and think...the man carves on human teeth every day with a tiny etching tool - the drill). This is a very fantastic shot! The lighting is excellent and the composition is too.

Come see ~~ what a sweet expression!! I love hearing how people say different things. When I was in Atlanta, it took me all of about 5 minutes to start sayin "y'all" and I got caught in a couple of "darlins" as well!! I wouldn't laugh at you; i'd just start sayin the same darn things and you might think THAT was pretty funny!! Great shot, BTW, the light is fantastic!!

macros are awesome for very small things but for a large object to get dof with a range of focus, results can be had by getting back from the object. many people use macros for single person portraits by being a distance away.outstanding carving.I have always respected people that can take a piece of wood and make a work of art

I've heard that some of those old decoys are real collectables to some people and worth lots of money.A fine picture.

I have a spoke shave just like that in my tool box Jocko, I have some tools that belonged to my Grandaddy, they must be about a hundred years old. Smoothed down and a coat or two of paint and this would look real enough to a duck flying over. I used to laugh when I saw these decoy's for sale in the gun and fishing tackle shop when I was young. I often thought why buy one of them to float it on a pond and to hide and wait for a duck to land so you could shoot it. I used to just walk into the pen and catch one and wring it's neck. Lol. I'm looking forward to some more macro's from you, this one is very good, I like the back lighting. Excellent work. Bravo!!!!!

My uncle had decoys and used them to get ducks from Thunder Bay before 1956. I saw some carefully painted paper mache ones in the 60's in Mojave, California in a Sports Shoppe.
