Description

Continuing Excerpts From the memoirs of early interstellar explorer Dr. Albert Xi: The greatest frustration for an explorer, is that we're still so far from what I'd so dearly love to visit! Our march to the stars has only begun, and I have every confidence that someday our descendants will reach such long dreamed-about places like the Plieadies, for instance. For me, it's looking at a planetary nebula like this one. Being a dozen light years from Earth brings me closer, and lets me see a little bit more, but this one is still over a hundred light years away, and far beyond the reach of humanity, for now. But that time will come, I'm sure of it. ------------ I'm still playing with ship models you've seen before. This is part of the "exploration" group I designed some time ago. It's meant to allow crew from the larger long-term mission to split up on shorter-duration projects. The lack of rotation in this ship limits the crew to a few months, as the degenerative effects of zero gravity are a real hazard for explorers. Ship was built in Bryce, background in Photoshop, and postwork/compositing in Photoshop. I also altered the surface of the ship's hull to reflect the time it's been in service and the wear of that time. Thanks for taking a look everyone, and have a great weekend.

Interesting ship design, and among the many fine images you posted, probably my favorite. Sci-Fi as we love it!
