Description

Looking Back On It All "You see those signs?" the Seagull says to me. "You humans have a lot of nerve." I put down my hamburger and said, "Who am I, Dr. Doolittle? Why do you creatures always have to bother me?" "The signs say, 'DON'T FEED THE BIRDS.' I see you stuffing your face there, but you go on to say we 'are particularly agressive this year,' as if our appetites have suddenly gotten voracious. And your eatery clearly includes the caveot, 'Not responsible for food stolen by birds.' As if we are responsible for being hungry. You humans just don't understand Nature." "Never claimed to, at least not me. I am humble and in awe before Her majesty. But it's not so much the food. It's what comes out the other end." He squaked Big Time at that. "Everybody poops! And some of you make a nice living caring after the statues we, shall we say, 'pay tribute to.' So, we steal for food....What does that say, about society? Aren't there basic things we should all share, like food, for one, and perhaps just some good old fashioned basic decency? I am an old bird, nearing the end of my life, but looking back on it all, I don't have any regrets. For I have been true to my Nature." With a bite or two of my hamburger remaining, I said, "You got me there, my friend. Would you like some hamburger?" "If that's all you got. Next time, order chicken wings. Mild, please." (P.S. - Thanks for allowing me to hone my art ... after all these years, I'm not even sure what it is yet.)

An excellent contribution. Love the conversation. I've often wondered if birds eating chicken isn't cannibalism. I suppose they don't care about such things. Great shot!

LOL! clapping I've had airport birds try to pull that nonsense with me after the 'Do Not Feed' signs went up. Telling them that jet engines = pigeon paté usually gets them to bugger off. Beautiful photo and a wonderful story :)
