Description

We are apparently experiencing a glut of new wildlife in the yard this year. Smokey became quite agitated at something a couple weeks ago which I found to be this American Box Turtle (I think/assume) laying eggs in our yard. I took a picture of that, but it was getting dark at the time, and it's evidentiary, but not a great photograph. She disappeared after completing that task. Sadly, I strongly suspect the nest has already been excavated, but I'm not going to give up hope completely until 90 days pass & I see if anybody emerges. Anyway, Smokey found her again a couple weeks later, and I got a few shots before placing her back in the shrubbery. Smokey is not being very attentive to my commands to leave her alone.. EDIT: Forgot to update the community.. *D'OH!* We did, indeed have some success with the nest. One baby emerged almost 90 days to the day from the time of egg laying. Here's the baby (though again, it's not great photography, but just journalistic)

I believe well that she takes a sun bath. she is splendid with its colors. Cheer and mile mercies my friend. Nature always brings a visual joy ((5++)) Je crois bien qu'elle prend un bain de soleil . Elle est magnifique avec ses couleurs . Bravo et mile mercis mon ami . La Nature apporte toujours une joie visuelle ((5++))
