Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I think I'm just to traditional...I don't get it. In fact, I can't make much sense of what is what but I got to tell you is this...I do love the colors, textures and pov. :-) I am sure you did a great job but the artists just isn't working with my sense of composition...

At first I thought "tornado!" then i had to look again, and again! I bet this is one of the building one has to see and feel and not just look at a photo and miss the depth and volume of the place. Lovely colors!

I have to agree with PJ on this Marilyn, the quality of the photo is fantastic but the top of the bulding I think Piet has that summed up. Either a tornado or an earthquake could have made a better looking mess. People get paid good money to design a pile of junk on the roof. Sorry this does not turn me on at all. The bottom shot of the exterior is excellent, and I like the building from ground level, the colour is just out of this world. The top shot though just looks like the building hasn't been finished, it needs the clean up crew in to remove all the detritus that cluttering the place up. Excellent photos Marilyn, both of them. It's the roof I don't like not the capture of it. Superb work. Bravo!!!!! I have been back for several looks at the image. Is that mess supposed to be a broken guitar? It just doesn't make sense.

I'm glad you posted this! Your shot of the roof of the EMP is fabulous - it really shows how much of the building we didn't actually see. You'll have to come back so we can take pictures of the other side!
MrsRatbag
Excellent capture; from the top it does sort of look like some debris left behind after construction, though. I don't imagine it was actually something overlooked, I'd like to see what Gehry intended it to represent, maybe it would make more sense then. The ground level views are much easier to admire!

I agree with the others, that mess looks like someone just threw it there. ;o) But the ground level of the building is fantastic! Love the colors, and the form of it. Excellent captures, because I was up in the Space Needle a few years ago, and that is dizzy height!

Another case of deja vu all over again...Tara previously gave us several shots of this same edifice, bizarre as it appears. A whole myriad of bright colors dominate these great photos. The main building doesn't look too bad, but the entrance section on the left looks like a cookie cutter gone awry.

It would take days, just to appreciate the outside of the building! Sensory overload! It is now on my bucket list!
