This will only take a moment,” he added, as he turned to face Daeron. Drawing his rapier, he twirled the blade in tight circles, limbering his wrist as if for a casual duel. “We know the outcome of this match already, saer Anane,” he taunted. “It will be little different then yesterday’s. Only there will be no points and no judges… But there will be blood!” “You may want to consider, saer Amcathra, that it would have been in very bad taste for a host to win his own tournament,” Daeron replied in his usually cocky tone. “But you are right about one thing… There will be blood today!” Randal was surprised by the sudden change in his opponent. His arrogant smile, playful tone, and the mischievous gleam in his eyes were gone. His voice had turned serious, his face like stone and his eyes as cold as the winter sea. Daeron lunged forward with a speed that Randal had never seen in him before, and the ring of steel on steel echoed down the dark corridor. After only a dozen or so clashes, the ringing stopped. “Wait,” Kethra commanded. “Randal was right. It only took a moment. I see him coming already,” she reported, squinting to make out the approaching figure. “Anane!” she said in disbelief, as Daeron stepped into the torch light. “You were expecting some one else?” he replied in a cocky tone…” A minor son of a respected noble family, Randal Amcathra’s only interest is his own wealth and power, and any way to increase them both. Greedy, cold-hearted, and deceitful, the only interest he shares with better realities is a passion for fine blades, and the skill to use them. Schooled by some of the best blade masters in Waterdeep, he is as deadly as he is dashing. The winner of the Ring of Steel’s first annual fencing tournament, by defeating its host, Daeron Anane, Randal’s greed drew him into a plot to undermine his own family’s business. But his plans ruined by Anane and his companions. Daeron defeated Randal in a duel and left him for dead, only to have him reappear with his family as if nothing had happened. He has tried numerous schemes to cause Daeron Anane’s downfall ever since. A new recurring character from the City of Splendors. At lest one I didn't get around to on my last pass...
