A recurring character from the City of Splendors, a Dungeons & Dragons Forgotten Realms campaign set in Waterdeep. ““Fear not my darling,” Randal taunted her. “You have an important part to play in my plans. In fact, your part begins this very night.” “What do you want of me, my lord?” Kethra cooed, resting her head upon his chest. “I have arranged for you to meet with some one critical to my plan. You must… ‘persuade’ him to accept my terms.” “Persuade him?” she asked, raising her head to look into his black eyes, hoping that she misunderstood his inference. “Yes,” he replied coldly. “I do not have the resources to out bid others who might court his favor. But, he has a weakness for what you will offer him, and your charms will surely sway him to my cause.” “My charms will what!?!” she recoiled from him as if he had struck her. Backing herself out of her own bed to stand naked against the wall of the small apartment, and stare at him is disbelief. Amused by her reaction, an evil grin grew upon his face as his eyes roamed over her naked form. “Oh yes,” he chuckled coldly. “You will most definitely sway him.” Climbing out of the other side of the bed, he walked around it and approached her casually, unconcerned by his own nakedness. “You wanted a part in my endeavors,” he said coldly. “You wanted to prove your worth, and your devotion. This is your opportunity.” “Not like this!” she pleading, hoping this was just one of his sick games. But there was not pent-up laughter in his eyes, they were black holes that bore into her naked flesh, and froze her shattering heart…” The daughter of a simple shopkeeper, Kethra’s talents for the Art (magic), as well as her blossoming beauty earned her the notice, and patronage, of Randal Amcathra, a minor son of the prestigious noble house, in her teens. Though not so naive that she did not expecting to repay his funding of her education at one of Waterdeep’s arcane academies, she was flattered by his attentions, and harbored dreams of becoming more the just a mistress. Blinded to Randal’s plot to undermine his family by her own ambitions, Kethra discovered too late that she was nothing but a pawn and play-thing to him. Still bound to serve him by her debt, she does so now without the blind devotion she once had.
