Description

Upload: 040 HV Title: Pangaea Series: DVC Collection Location: Date: March 19, 2008 Image: N08442M1c-FNL-RR.jpg Camera: Nikon D70, Full Frame Commentary: I had promised to share some of the artwork created when I attended the Diablo Valley College in the spring, taking the Advanced Materials painting course. The only reason this series of three is not listed under two-dimensional artwork is that in the past I have photographed such things as torn posters. Now I have started to remove bits and pieces of paper and over a three-month period I have collected a good selection with which to reconstruct these bits and pieces of images into new individual works of modern abstract art. What makes this piece different from Jacques Villegle is that his works are large sections of torn posters and he then continues to remove pieces of layers to achieve his look. Also his pieces are mounted to canvas, whereas I choose to work with single layers of individual pieces, building upon each other and for added realism I opted for a wood as my surface. The decollage material comes from about six different locations in San Francisco and all individual pieces were reassembled to achieve this collage. This artwork is 24 x 36 inches (60.96 x 91.44 cm) and individual pieces of paper were glued to a wooden palette. I have also added staples and a nail to lend more realism to the piece.

Special thanks to the following individuals who have added me as their Favorite Image; rainbows timtripp amlondono

Very fascinating work, Egmont, my dear friend! Sehr gelungene Arbeit, mein Freund!

Definitely a beautiful style, full of creative expression and thought! I like the use of colours and the various details, and bits and pieces that you've chosen to expose for us. I think every piece is a special representation of a particular meaning, creating a holistic and beautiful abstract! Excellent composition Egmont!

Interesting idea of deconstructing numerous random collages to create one ordered collage. Inspired!

Love the way you have balanced teh pieces by means of the "neutral" spec on the right and the bottom. The title is a great match to the feel. Glad the skies have spared you after such long sufferings. Nikolya
