Description

Let me start off by saying a big thank you to all of you who wished me a safe trip to Zimbabwe. As you can see, I am back safely! (No thanks to the pilot who aborted our landing at Harare airport and only managed to get us down on the second attempt!!!) This image is firstly to say thank you for caring. Secondly, I want to dedicate this image to the people of Zimbabwe. I wish I could take anyone who thinks that his or her life isn't perfect, along with me. I have, once again, been humbled by the positive attitude and tremendous energy that the Zim folks project amidst hardships that you and I cannot even imagine. All was calm and quiet in Harare where I was. According to the locals, the majority of violence that we all saw on SKY and CNN happened more in the rural areas with just isolated incidents in the cities. The tremendous difficulties that these folks have to endure though because of the economic chaos in the country, is far worse! Basic amenities like clean water, electricity, basic foods like soap, oil, bread etc. are just not available. Power failures can last days and even weeks on end and there are no chemicals to treat the water. Despite all these hardship, they are the most wonderful people you will ever meet. They have hope in their hearts and have made plans to sustain themselves with great difficulty. May I ask everyone to please keep the people of Zimbabwe in your thoughts and prayers and let us hope and pray that a peaceful solution can bring an end to the economic and political chaos. Thank you for visiting my gallery and for your valued comments on this image as well as my previous upload. Hugs, Carin xx

I have always said that no matter how much you think you suffer there is always someone else worse off than you/me. At least I can get up each morning and have a hot shower with clean water, I can have a hot meal for breakfast, and go to shops that actually have something to sell. In the scheme of things I am thankfull for what I do have and feel for those that don't. Excellent image and dedication Carin. Bravo!!!!!

Thank you helping to raise consciousness on this important matter concerning the people of Zimbabwe. I also appreciate reminders of how we have it so much better than people in the rest of the world, where hardships of untold kind and degree are often the order of the day. Your story about the spirit and hope that the people have despite the punishing circumstances they exist in not only makes my heart go out to them through the common bond we all share as human beings, but also offers itself up to me as a lesson in how we should to take stock of whatever travails we ourselves may be subject to. I also feel humbled merely by reading your words. Thank you, and welcome back. I'm pleased you've returned safely and that that days are dwindling as you approach being reunited with Bruce. Have a great weekend!!!

Welcome back! A combination of diaphanous diffusion and extreme clarity in this lovely bouquet, Carin! Look like asters or daisies of some sort. My nephew spent some time in Zimbabwe some years back. It was some kind of volunteer work and he shared the hut of several natives.
