Description

Let me start off by saying a big thank you to all of you who wished me a safe trip to Zimbabwe. As you can see, I am back safely! (No thanks to the pilot who aborted our landing at Harare airport and only managed to get us down on the second attempt!!!) This image is firstly to say thank you for caring. Secondly, I want to dedicate this image to the people of Zimbabwe. I wish I could take anyone who thinks that his or her life isn't perfect, along with me. I have, once again, been humbled by the positive attitude and tremendous energy that the Zim folks project amidst hardships that you and I cannot even imagine. All was calm and quiet in Harare where I was. According to the locals, the majority of violence that we all saw on SKY and CNN happened more in the rural areas with just isolated incidents in the cities. The tremendous difficulties that these folks have to endure though because of the economic chaos in the country, is far worse! Basic amenities like clean water, electricity, basic foods like soap, oil, bread etc. are just not available. Power failures can last days and even weeks on end and there are no chemicals to treat the water. Despite all these hardship, they are the most wonderful people you will ever meet. They have hope in their hearts and have made plans to sustain themselves with great difficulty. May I ask everyone to please keep the people of Zimbabwe in your thoughts and prayers and let us hope and pray that a peaceful solution can bring an end to the economic and political chaos. Thank you for visiting my gallery and for your valued comments on this image as well as my previous upload. Hugs, Carin xx

Wonderful piece of art and dedication to the many good people of Zimbabwe, they suffer at the hands of a tyrant. I found your words positive and heartfelt.

Well, your news from Zimbabwe are worrying. In our countries, it is difficult to imagine living without food, clean water or electricity but it still happens in somme less fortunate countries all around the world. It is good to remind us this Carin. Now I can see how lucky I am to have what I got and I'm more grateful ! Great shot and nice postwork !

Lovely colored daisies, so on contrast with the land and the people under discussion. Very sad, so much more when one knows the whole of history then it's no wonder that they suffer now. We are glad you are back, welcome back!

Welcome back Carin. Great dedication to the people of Zimbawe, and to think what this country used to be. It is hard to believe that something like this can happen today, but it does, and Zimbawe is only one of several countries that have problems like this!!
