Description

Hi - thanks for looking in. "Kai Tak Approach" is one of several ideas I was considering for the big Stonemason contest over at DAZ. Ulimately I decided that my being so closely associated with Dreamlight (one of the judges) would probably put some folks in an awkward position so I decided not to enter... not, after looking at some of those entries, like I would have stood a chance, but still... For anyone familiar with civil aviation, the approach to Hong Kong's old Kai Tak airport was legendary, at points it had large jetliners literally at rooftop levels over some parts of Hong Kong. I thought this would be a perfect use for Stonemason's 'Walled City.' The plane is Vanishing Point's jetliner available from Cornucpia 3D. This is a Vue 6i render with full radiosity and spectral atmosphere. The 'Walled City' prop was a straight import from Poser. There are also a couple of hunderd decimated 'Walled City' props painted in an ecosystem around the hero prop to reflect off of the bottom of the plane. Render time was around 65 hours over the course of a week or so... 'resume render' is your friend! Postwork included levels and exposure adjustments and some painting on the clouds to give a little more whispy-ness. Thanks again for looking - hope you enjoyed seeing it as much as I enjoyed making it. As always thanks for your comments and critique!

That am mondo cool, Michael! You got the lensing just right. It makes me almost dizzy looking up at it. The reflection in the belly metal is great, as is that nearing sunset halo glow in the clouds. Pretty freakin' neato!
