Description

Hello All My Father in law ( Mike's Dad and the girls only living Grandfather ) passed away last Sunday . That evening I captured this sunset behind my home and called to Mike and said ,"look your Father is saying goodbye". We just stared up at it in awe. It was an amazing sky and I was drawn to the colors and rays that reminded me of the fingers of God. Seems like everytime when there is a birth or death in my family these glorious sunsets happen . ( seems like we don't get alot of great sunsets inland in LA cause of the smog these days so always like a gift to see a nice one) Always a hard thing to lose a parent. I captured this then just sat there remembering him with great fondness. Grandpa Ben was born in 1922 and was in the 2nd world war , he had a passion for outdoors and nature. He lived his entire life in Munising Michagan along the banks of Lake Superior . He had 7 children ( Mike was the 5th) and was a dedicated Father and loving husband. He had these great big rosy round cheeks and huge smiling eyes. He was a master story teller with always an amazing story to tell or song to sing. When my girls where little he would rock them for hours and sing many songs till they were sleeping peacefully. I wanted to put this up in memorial to him today as he was very dear to my heart. The light was very low and this was a bit grainy . Taken with my pocket cam tried to make up for the conditions with my postwork but still wanted to upload this as is was a special moment and memory. Sorry I haven't been around been busy this week will try and get caught up on comments soon. Love to you all- ((( BIG HUGS ))) ~ Kimmers ♥

Such beautiful words you say about your Father in Law Kimmie. What a gorgeous photo ... when I read you called Mike over and said his Father was saying goodbye, I got so choked up, tears filled my eyes; I couldn't read further for a while. Beautiful memorial Kimmie; you are so sweet to do this. Bless you and your family always, and may you all find the strength to get you through these tough days ahead from your loved ones and friends. He truly sounds like a remarkable man; very special, to sing your children to sleep like that is a memory that will never die, along with so many other wonderful things you remember about him. Hold them all so close to your heart; they will never leave you .. and will live on forever. xxx

A truly beautiful image, and yes, a beautiful interpretation of this sort of closure... Prayers are with you and your family, as it must be a really hard time right now, but I think being there for eachother and with eachother now, is going to make it that much for "deal-able". Your image, however, is most stunning; What a beautiful blazing sky.... filled with tranquility and peace. The warmth emanates from the glow, and feels like it wants to seep from off the page and embrace it's audience....... a remarkable composition!

I'm so sorry for everything. People die every day, but I think as long as we remember them they're not completely gone; the memory of them, the part of them that exists in our minds, keeps going. The impact of our existence goes on long after we stop, potentially to infinity. This doesn't make things any easier to deal with, but it helps you remember the people you've lost, the impact they've had on you and those around you, and remembering is good even if those memories always have a note of sadness to them. Keep telling his stories. I hope what I say gives you. . . something, I'm not very good at making people feel better. Sorry. It's a good picture. I like how the burning sun is rising up over the gazebo as though it's looking over its shoulder.
