Description

Hello All My Father in law ( Mike's Dad and the girls only living Grandfather ) passed away last Sunday . That evening I captured this sunset behind my home and called to Mike and said ,"look your Father is saying goodbye". We just stared up at it in awe. It was an amazing sky and I was drawn to the colors and rays that reminded me of the fingers of God. Seems like everytime when there is a birth or death in my family these glorious sunsets happen . ( seems like we don't get alot of great sunsets inland in LA cause of the smog these days so always like a gift to see a nice one) Always a hard thing to lose a parent. I captured this then just sat there remembering him with great fondness. Grandpa Ben was born in 1922 and was in the 2nd world war , he had a passion for outdoors and nature. He lived his entire life in Munising Michagan along the banks of Lake Superior . He had 7 children ( Mike was the 5th) and was a dedicated Father and loving husband. He had these great big rosy round cheeks and huge smiling eyes. He was a master story teller with always an amazing story to tell or song to sing. When my girls where little he would rock them for hours and sing many songs till they were sleeping peacefully. I wanted to put this up in memorial to him today as he was very dear to my heart. The light was very low and this was a bit grainy . Taken with my pocket cam tried to make up for the conditions with my postwork but still wanted to upload this as is was a special moment and memory. Sorry I haven't been around been busy this week will try and get caught up on comments soon. Love to you all- ((( BIG HUGS ))) ~ Kimmers ♥

So beautiful. It is indeed special. You brought his character to life with your description. What a wonderful man. Life is so so short. Just when you start to realize what it is all about, it is almost over.

touching story of your father-in-law, and there's always a special place in our hearts for people from the 2d WW who saw what they saw and helped build the generations after...and this picture, my god, it's gorgeous. I mean it's gorgeous. I don't know how you do it, your eye must lead you like Moses to the sea, but it's a beautiful remembrance of someone who glowed for you and your family. Between your eye and your postwork you produced yet another visual symphony. (And with a pocket camera? What an eye!) It's late day sun yet it blasts into the cosmos and looks like the gods set it up for you or perhaps it was your father-in-law who had become one with the light for all those who loved him. The sun is in a perfect spot, the veranda (?) is in that perfect late day shadow, and it's gorgeous, really. Resplendent. I picked this at random just to learn a little more of your gallery, and I got a blast of your vision once again...
