Description

Hi all, again I was able to identify this critter using the bugguide.net website. I found this one on a dogbane leaf. Who would have known that was it's name too. Dogbane Beetle - Chrysochus auratus. The dogbane leaf beetle is a small (8-11 mm.), oblong, shiny insect that displays blue, gold, green, and coppery colors. Its underside is bluish-green. It is very comfortable for those bugs to eat, and to have the liquid - in form of water-drops - right beside them. A real wishing-table for this gorgeous little cutesy-wootsy.

How interesting! I have a shot of a beetle similar to this but at the edges of his body are these sort of white scallops. He is shiny like this except for those scallops. A gorgeous capture! Thanks for listing that site!!!
