Description

As the commotion from deep within the jungle progressed ever closer, two Apatosaurs grazed nervously. The loud roars and crashing underbrush made them uneasy, and as the combatants burst into the clearing, the massive beasts lunged back and turned with surprising agility... This image continues my ongoing storyline, but I posted it in Animals due to no visible Science Fiction elements. This was more of an exercise than an artistic image...first of all to hone my posing skills in regards to realistic motion, but most of all to see if I could bypass Bryce's lack of large scale vegetation rendering(and my limited rendering capability)to produce a scene close to something found in Vue.I created a layered, realistic jungle canopy in the terrain editor(as a lattice terrain),duplicated, scaled and skewed this seven more times, and rendered in a Bryce jungle canopy preset texture...the result is a jungle vista using only eight lattice terrains. The ground texture is a freebee from www.turbosquid.com,and the scene was rendered in Premium setting with soft shadows selected. The dinos are from Daz3D.Thanks for viewing and all your previous comments!

Firstly, Neil, the letter-box format is well suited to the Apatosaurs and their posing. Secondly, this is amazing work and well-rendered. Lastly, I hope there is much more to come...excellent work, my friend.

Thank you for providing details on this image...it's VERY helpful to me! I love what you did here, and you have given me hope that Bryce can do some of the things I want to do with it. Vue is wonderful but SLOW. Bryce renders much more quickly. Great job!

Another outstanding image, Neil. You are incredibly adept and inventive with Bryce, the first 3D program I fell deeply in love with, but could never coax to do what I really wanted, particularly with vegetation. I must agree with Keith - more, please...

Excellent work on the details in this one Neil and the explanation is very useful as well. It's obvious that a lot of thought has gone into this image and the result is fabulous. I think you have achieved your goal of realistic motion in this one. You are correct in that Bryce is nowhere near as good as Vue at generating terrains. Tony :-)
