Description

I have been so tempted to upload a real "crappy" capture. In fact I have 3 which may qualify, they were done from way down low on the bush floor. This is elephant dung from up closer than you may ever see. This 'shroom was heaving upward, so I assume there was still enough nourishment left for it to grow. A wonderful way nature has to recycle.

Brace yourself, here is a new series in the making, LOL.

Thank you for kind comments, critique and visits to my previous upload:

Great capture, Piet! I know a little bit of our mushrooms, but this might be a Southern Hemisphere or at least an elephant-specific one. Compliments! Lorand

Unique and fascinating, both the new life growing from the "fertile" ground and the incredible rough and grassy texture of the dung! Well seen and caught!

This is sure interesting and wow, such clarity! I had no idea there was that much fiber in elephant dung! This reminds me of my trip to Yellowstone National Park. My husband and I were hiking around one of the outer areas and I kept seeing dung of all types. Finally I started taking pictures of it...deer, elk, buffalo and who knows what else. But it sure wasn't as interesting as what you found.
