Description

I went away this past weekend with my son and granddaughter to a family gathering about 5 hours drive away. It was exhausting to say the least. Late afternoon yesterday, after we said our goodbyes to Kayla, we took the last stretch home when we were stopped in a +- 3km line at an accident scene. Dust was hanging in the veldt from cars having to travel on the shoulder of the road to get passed the scene and in the distance was the smoke of a bush fire. I just found it a perfect picture moment. Admittedly the dust and smoke played havoc with my sinusses and I am getting sick again. Grrrrrrr.... I am missing all of you on RR, but things at work is really crazy and I am not doing very well with catching up!! I am trying though!!! Thank you for popping in and for your very valued comments on this image as well as previous uploads. Hugs, Carin xx

these smoke clouds can be a frightening thing when you are out in the savanna.

We can do without the bush fire I think, hope no one was seriously injured in the accident. Excellent atmospheric shot Carin, great on the count down, 1 month to go, now thats a low number. Bravo!!!!!

Very dramatic and ominous, I can almost hear the crackling noise of twigs and branches catching fire. Too bad about your sinus! :( Why don't you tell us it was the annual get together of "some RR members" in Bloemfontein, lol!

Except for the foliage (or lack of...) in this shot, it is most familiar to me, having lived in this type of air for nearly a month. It is much better now with only a hint of smoke smell lingering. It almost seems to be something out of a Stephen King novel...
