Description

Adira settled in for the night, wedged against the trunk of an ancient tree,it's splayed branches providing support in the form of a makeshift platform. All around her insects scurried and flitted, the skittering of ants, centipedes and beetles and the constant buzzing of winged creatures something she would have to try and ignore if she had any hope of sleep. Among the myriad of winged insects were a group of scout droids that Adira took to be jungle wasps,in fact they were designed to mimic these insects unless viewed from up close. The need for rest had dulled Adira's acute sight enough for them to pass undetected, heading back to their homebase with her location co-ordinates. Posed in Daz Studio, rendered in Bryce 6.1 and minor postwork in Photoshop.Branches and distant jungle foliage are lattice terrains,Bark textures are from cgtextures.com.Tree on right is a Bryce preset.Insect droids are Robowasps from Daz3D(part of my winnings from placing four images in the Bryce Gallery for August).Rendered in Premium setting with soft shadows and DOF selected. This image is for Keith(photostar)who wanted to know what awaited Adira in the trees. Thanks for viewing and previous comments!

Wow, I love this image Neil! Great grasp of realism! Minus the fact that they are robowasps.... The moss on that branch if friggen amazing! I wonder... is that symbolism in the background or a complete coincidence? The branches of the trees directly behind the wasp in the forground actually look like a honeycomb... Good stuff

Pure coincidence on the part of the tree branches echoing honeycomb, but once I saw it I decided to keep it as is for that very reason...good eyes as always!

Great narrative and outstanding close-up work, Neil. Hmmm...wonder what they will be up to when they report Adira's coordinates. The textures are perfect for the setting. Thanks for doing this one and you know, now, you have begun a series and it will have to continue as you have all of us very interested. Congrats on the August DAZ3D selections.
