Description

Finally! Jack got a new texture for his shirt.... now I think it looks decent enough to be called a pirate shirt, ain't it? Took me long enough anyway and I got so many kind advisories about this, so this is what I came up with. Actually, I took pictures (with a Minolta Dimage Z1) of my own shirt with all the stains and sweatpatches (honestly - looks and smells like a real pirate shirt ;o) made a texture of them and then put a displacement map on the shirt. It did wonders! Now that I was so happy about the shirt, I tried the same with his breeches, but I used only a handpainted displacement-map. But that seems to be alright, too. So.... shirt done, breeches done, boots are done too, now I'm hoping for decent hair, vest and coat. Please tell me what you think and ideas for the a.m. items are highly appreciated! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ D3,pirate shirt & breeches - Daz, Textures my own. HDRI light - sachform Jack's Ring - BarCODE (thanks for the gift, darling!!!) Jack's compass - Cartesius (wonderful, just wonderful!!!!!) Flintlock pistol with a new texture too ;o) Though it won't be the final one. Carrara6Pro PhotoImpact 12 Thanks a lot for taking a look and perhaps leaving a honest and helpful comment - THANK YOU!!! Ta! ~Sassy~

Shirt is right on... good job. Love the skin texture... especially the hands. Pants look good too... the two things in this that catch my eye are the sword handle and the compass... the sword handle looks fantastic, but where is the blade or case? The compass looks 2D instead of 3D... needs some ageing... well, that's my two bits.... great looking image... Yeah I see what you mean about the hair, but you'll get it - look at the shirt - wow. ...you know of any video tutorials that are free on the net for poser? I don't get into the cloth room but want to.

Nicely done Sassy... the shirt is looking very good. I also like the reflections on the metals in the image too. I'm with mikeerson on the compass looking 2D... granted, black items can come out a bit odd when using HDR or image based lighting set ups. Get some good reference of the movie prop and then do a re-texture on it... The hair also looks like it 's a little "flat", but adding a displacement map and a bit of difference to your color map will get that sorted out straight away. The skin texture is looking really good... did you do any tweaks to it recently? I looked great before, but it looks very natural here... Jack's head scarf looks a little odd... color looks like it got faded out quite a bit... not sure how I'd suggest addressing that other than possible lighting adjust (kind of tough to give ya any better suggestion without being able to take a look at the scene sett up and settings). All in all looks like you're progressing very nicely on the good Capitan Sparrow. Keep up the good work love.

I'm definitely liking this one, great work on making your own textures and displacement maps, I know how time consuming it can be! As for advice, I'd say you should try to get the transition from facial hair to beard braid thingies to be a little smoother, maybe post working in some hair with the clone tool would help.

Wow, that's great! The only thing I'd suggest is adding some kind of seam/stitching to the shirt coller. The pistol steel looks amazing!
