Description

The starfighter returns to its mothership for rearming and repairs. The mothership was originally designed for the more sedentary life of a space station, but before it reached completion the humans were dragged into their first interstellar war, and it was decided the station could be refitted and modified to serve as an enormous capital ship and carrier. (Enormous by the current human standards, other more advanced races would be rather bemused by the description.) Its brute strength is not to be denied however, with eight double laser turrets and eight plasma blaster turrets serving as its primary weapons, it also boasts four guided missile launchers, and a similar number of heavy rocket turrets, mass drivers, and mine layers (in the rear). Not to mention the bays which hold two starfighters apiece. Its hull is heavily armoured to compensate for the rather primitive human shielding technology, and this has proved to be advantageous, as the enemy's weapons are designed to disrupt shields and have much less impact on armour. Modeled and rendered in Mechanisto, with a little postwork in Photoshop. The background is from an astronomy program, the textures from Sabre Studios and Onyx. Comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks for taking a look!

I agree your lighting is very good, and that's the hardest part for most people, good detail and the texturing, though not perfect, is very good! Your going to be hell on wheels in a couple of months! Keep going!

Hey thanks! The flames got some extra glow in PS, along with the bay door. There's just one directional light, and ambient light is off, in keeping with a space scene. Unfortunately, I'm probably going to be taking a few months off from graphics... behind in school. Got one last coming up though!
