Description

I shot this Downy Woodpecker today in my backyard. There were three of these guys taking advantage of my feeders, among a host of Chickadees, Cardinals, and Titmice. And a new bird I found in a tree that I haven’t ID yet. It was overcast and cool today; the weather here has been unusually cool for August, so I took advantage of a beautiful day to enjoy the birds and photography. My parents have one of these living in their back yard. Every year I try to catch him when he is eating from the suet cakes and I always miss him. Great capture!

Wonderful! I saw one in my yard, but the minute I moved he was gone. I have yet to get a good shot of you. Bravo, well done~!

I have seen these type of woodpeckers in our neighborhood, though few and far inbetween. Excellent capture. :c) Capturing one for me will take a long, long time. Maybe never. They are fairly wily.
