Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

It's just fascinating how long this tree will eventually live and thrive once it reaches maturity. Yes, I know about timbering and clear-cutting. They are doing it to the mountain area where I live here in the East. Looks like massive scars on the hillsides.

I like this a lot... they are fascinating, little trees, aren't they?

Cool shot. Funny how they grow so well in the wild but don't do so well grown in someone's yard.

Yeh! It is kinda scary, especially when you compare yourself to a tree, we are but a mote of dust on this planet compared to a giant Redwood. What did they say at one time about a mans life span, on average of three score years and ten, compared to 10,000 is not very much at all. I have the three score years under my belt already, but thanks to modern medicine I might get a few more years yet. Excellent capture Marilyn, it sure has a way to go, I hope the world is here long enough for it to get as big as its mom. Bravo!!!!!

Two years old you say? I thought at first glance it was around 200-years old. Stark clarity and lighting in this portrait, M!
