Description

Altar of Ninshubar For Heathcroft who encouraged me to start working with multiple renders and then post work the layers. If not for you this pic would not have worked because there was no way I could get the reflections, shadows and details to all work in a single render. Thank you. Postwork with PSP Ninshubar Goddess of Air and Wind was Ishtar's vizier and also her first cousin. She was a powerful Goddess in her own right. In Mesopotamian traditions viziers had both complimentary and contrasting traits to the deities they served. In Ninshubar's case she shared her cousin's habit of being both loudly and brazenly demanding of the other Gods but also she was a brave and powerful warrior. Unlike Ishtar, Ninshubar was praised for being level headed and resilient under pressure. In that regard she was a perfect companion for her hot headed and lustful cousin who was always challenging authority and getting the two of them into lots of trouble! If a direct assault didn't work, Ninshubar could almost always find a work around. Right now Ninshubar's problem was to convince the other Gods that they should act with all due haste to rescue Ishtar from the Land of No Return. This was going to take some doing, because although Ishtar was the most powerful Goddess of the time, she had broken a cardinal rule;only messengers of the Gods could travel between the worlds of the living and the dead. For Gods and humans it was supposed to be a one way trip. Ishtar had caused a lot of trouble by trying to rescue her lover from the clutches of her sister Ereshkigal and the pantheon of Gods were not likely to be too sympathetic. 10th in a series Ninshubar is DM's SuzieQ morphed by me to a middle eastern Goddess Starlet hair by Lisbeth at DAZ

Excellent image. Nice story. Yep Gods can be troublesome. Especially if their Greek. Meddlesome AND quarrelsome.

Well, what can I say, Roxy? I am very touched by the dedication. I am glad to have been of some help. You have really nailed this image and all the work you have out in really shows. I too like the reflecting skulls but then you knew I would! The story is a great backdrop to this image and I always think its nice to have a narrative as well as the picture. The character, Ninshubar, is extremely well crafted and her outfit and extras well put together, I like the light behind her hair and its movement, and the way she 'looks out' out the frame. All in all its got to be a favourite! Dave

Following some tips by Heathcroft I did some more layer work to darken Ninshubar a bit to better match the ambient lighting, but only seems to work in full screen view (at least in my browser)

The details in this one look really good, particularly your metallic textures, which are very realistic. I also like the colored flames (I'm calling them flames because I'm not quite sure what they are). This is a very strong image and I look forward to the rest of the series.

Aha! So here we see your evolution as an artist - to compositing multiple renders. I see you're still using PSP at this point. LOL I feel like I'm following in your footsteps. Love the posing, expression, and lighting on this. Your work on FX was well worth the effort. However, I think this image could have been even better if Nin was a bit closer to the camera, and if you had followed the "rule of thirds" a little more closely. Nevertheless, an excellent image. You can really feel her determination.
