Description

I'm standing over dangerous grounds over looking the newly forming bench. The grounds are very fragile and hot. But for now, my attention is on the ocean. It is hot and steaming. If you fall in, forget about swimming. You will be cooked! As mentioned in my last post, Lava rocks will float. Floating occurs when an object is less dense than the liquid that suspends it. When lava contacts the sea water, it creates hot gases or steam, and are incorporated into the rocks. The rock becomes less denser than the sea and "rocks will float" . I normally would take hundreds of pictures but this is an area I did not feel comfortable in. Took a few pictures and half of them didn't come out (stress). Will post the newly forming bench in my next post. Aloha and thank you for viewing.

How cool, errr... hot is this! Wonderful shot. My mom had a well worn lava rock for scrubbing dirty hands, and I remember playing with it and watching it float in the sink when I was just a tiny little kid.

Just as apparent as the view in front, I can actually feel the unsettling mood of standing where you are. The floating rocks are incredible but my stomach tightens and feels queezy thinking of being in your shoes in this spot to take this picture.
