Description

This is the newly forming bench. Loose rocks, sand and wave after wave of lava that will eventually raise the surface level to where I'm standing. It may leave you with an impression that its safe to walk on but it is not. It is fragile and dangerous. They have been several bench collapse in the past two weeks but luckily no one was hurt. I was lucky to have caught this on low tide exposing the lava activity below. As the surf and tide were coming in, it brought a wall of clouds that eventually covered the view. Aloha and thank you for viewing

… the elemental powers are beautiful to look, if one does not have to live directly beside it. Beautiful photo!

Awesome shot, Errol. Safety is not the impression I get, and I wouldn't want to walk on it, as it looks very dangerous, indeed.

You have captured in the greatest way possible the beauty and awe of this event of Mother Nature and Madame Pele. I'm 63 and ever since I was a little girl I have wanted to see this type of event in person and your series has provided me with an opportunity to see it up close. I still hope to get there someday to see it for myself. Thank you for this series.

Very cool, though I can't for the life of me figure how anybody would think that was safe to walk on.
