Description

Standing on the landing at Trent and David's project house, looking back toward the front door. If you were to walk down the stairs and turn left, you would step down two steps and be in the living room. Turning right would take you into the dining room, which is the room you saw in yesterday's shot. In color, this was just a shot looking down the stairs. Postworked to black & white with a softer focus, I got more of a sense of a woman in a party frock descending the stairs to meet her gentleman caller at the front door. Perhaps she lived in the house 85 years ago when it was new ... Fanciful, I know, but really ... that's what black and white is all about, isn't it? .......... For those of you interested in the nuts and bolts of this remodel, here's the deal: Trent and David haven't moved in yet. They're finishing the landscaping at the last house, and once that's done and the old house is sold, they'll move into the new place. They're looking at a time frame for that of a few more months. Once the permitting process is complete, they'll start working on the new place. The living room, dining room and front hall (from yesterday and today's photographs) will remain just as they are. However, the kitchen will be demolished, and the back wall of the house will be bumped out ten or fifteen feet. Fortunately the house has a basement with a small kitchen, and they'll be able to live there while they do the work. You'll have to wait a few years for the final "after" pictures. There will undoubtedly be some "during" photographs as the process goes along. I can't imagine them letting me off the hook that easily! The invitations now aren't "come to dinner on Sunday," They're "come to dinner and bring your camera!"
