I went to a park in Arlington Texas Friday and just after I entered a forested walk path, I was lucky to see a Giant Swallowtail fly right by me and land.it stayed long enough for me to get 20 shots The Giant Swallowtail Butterfly (Papilio cresphontes) is a swallowtail butterfly common in various parts of North America, particularly the south and east. With a wingspan of about 10-16 cm , it is the largest butterfly in the United States. The adults' wings are black, with two striking yellow stripes across the forewings and hindwings. Giant Swallowtails feed on the nectar of a variety of flowers, but are known to enjoy azalea, bougainvilla, goldenrod, Japanese honeysuckle, and milkweed . thanks for viewing and any comments

A really lovely photo. It's so hard to get these little guys to stay still for a picture. They tend to flutter about so much. Great detail and wonderful color. Glad to see a posting from you. Hope all is ok in your neck of the woods as far as Ike is concerned. Nice work!

Great capture of a real Beauty. I have seen a few of these but never managed to get a shot yet. Thanks for sharing and hope you made it through the storm ok. I lost power for over a day and had a few big trees blow over along one of the creeks that meander through my property. Lots of people in Texas were not so lucky unfortunately. Lee
