Description

I was not ready to capture this beautiful bird as I was seeking textures.I walked into a barn that was built in 1909 and heard something in the ceiling joists and looked up and there was a pair.they use the barn to nest in .they were of course afraid and I got too close they started jumping joists.each time the noise would be quite loud because of their weight.both ended up flying the coup. the following time I went back, they were soaring high in the sky over the same area they are protected by the government.that is a scary thought! thanks for viewing and any comments

on the “beauty” it does not depend! “It” has also its existence authorization. It is a nice and interesting photo!

I think you did a stunning job of capturing an oft times misunderstood bird! Vultures aren't ugly by any stretch of the imagination and this one is absolutely beautiful! Very nice shot!

Not your usual barn capture Richard, you might expect to see Owls in a barn, but this is a bit on the exotic side. I don't know what I would do if it happened to me. I think maybe it would be me flying the coop. Lol. Excellent capture, that beady eye is spot on. Bravo!!!!!

Those birds are huge.If they are anything like the size of the ones in La. and Miss. I have seen them with a 6 to 8 foot wing span. They may be ugly birds but they are fascinating creatures.Awesome shot

My favorite birds !!! in fact, my name here, "Nekhbet" is for the ancient Egyptian Vulture Goddess "Nekhbet" :o) And why is that a scary thought that they're protected? .....you know vultures perform a useful service in nature....what a great shot Richard!!! wowwwww H u g s

Huge flocks of them come to Sargeant's Park in Florida and roost on the trees across the Hillsborough river and occassionally come and sit on the rail of the lookout from the boardwalk. They soar over the roads at rush hour each morning.

Awesome capture. They are protected by the government because they are extremely endangered and an asset to the ecosystem as a whole. Without creatures like this the world would be hip deep in carrion. Wonderful and maybe they aren't beautiful like some of the other Avian photos we see on Renderosity but they are just as important. I love it!
