Description

Last weekend I went out to my friend Marsha's to play some pinochle. It was a nice day, so we started our game outside at a table under the gazebo. Dennis, my pinochle partner, had just dealt a hand and somebody was hassling me about being slow to bid. I griped back at them that I was thinking, and then all of a sudden Marsha said, "Look at the balloon!" I just looked at her and said, "are you trying to distract me from my bid?" She was practically jumping up and down. "No! Really! Look behind you!" I looked, dropped my cards (face down, of course), and ran in the house for my camera. There were two balloons, but one of them got away before I could get a good photograph. Shot hand-held, and as zoomed in as my little camera will go. .......... For those of you who know pinochle: We play single deck. There were four hands where I took the bid and shot the moon, and two of those we didn't even play out ... I just lay down my hand. Boy, does THAT feel good! I had one hand where I was dealt a double pinochle. Dennis and I won four games out of seven. * sigh * It was a good night. :)

This is a beautiful shot. It reminds me of a news cast I heard on Friday of last week. There is a woman here in Indiana who is in the last stages of Breast Cancer. I can't remember her name but anyway the Make A Wish Foundation granted her a wish and it was to ride in an Air Balloon before she passes away. She has always been afraid of heights but it said on the newscast that she smiled the whole time she was in the Air Balloon. This brought it back to me. Thanks for helping me to remember. Sometimes we have to be reminded of what to be thankful for in this world.

I have not a clue about your card game Tara, I will have to look it up on the net. Excellent capture and that blue sky is a perfect backdrop for this beautiful brightly coloured balloon, the colours are so vibrant. Awesome! I would love to do this myself, soaring up into the wide blue yonder, and then it would be a case of 'I can see for miles and miles'. Bravo!!!!!5+++++
